Alas, my son has reached a stage where he has become resistant to the normal hygiene routine we have followed. Yes, I know I went through this phase as a child but totally didn't expect to be presented with this as a parent.
Since I firmly believe that children learn best by modeling, this baffled me. My husband and I are meticulous brushers and floss often. BG was too, until recently. Now he can go 3 or 4 days with running a brush over his pearly whites. Some of you may gasp at the thought that I don't nag him morning and night to be sure the brushing gets done.
When prompted, I have explained why we brush, the proper methods and consequences of poor oral hygiene. He happily brushed to get the sugar bugs off his teeth. The learning was also enhanced when he discovered the line of plush toys called Giant Microbes and purchased a 6 inch cavity.
So today I took my mom for dental work and saw these videos. I have added it to his Xmarks and will patiently wait for him to watch them and see where it goes.
